St. Marie du Mont Posted by Picasa

The Ivy House Bed & Breakfast

This is the wonderful B&B we stayed at in St. Marie du Mont. I highly recommend it to anyone going to Normandy! They have two luxurious double or twin rooms in the main house and two large apartments. Click on the link above the picture to visit their website. The owners, Steve and Sarah Lee, are British and extremely charming. Steve is a WWII historian and was happy to map out our excursion for us. He even took me to Carentan and some other Easy Company spots where the battles really happened. You can hear him speak at the end of the video I posted called Normandy Part III.Posted by Picasa

This may not look like much, but for anyone who watched "Band of Brothers" it is significant. After E Company regrouped in St. Marie du Mont (where we stayed), Winters was given orders to take out four artillery pieces firing on Utah Beach. The four guns where on this side of the trees in this photograph! Posted by Picasa

We had driven around Carentan a few times and Brad had to get this shot as we left. In case you have never been to Europe before, the red stripe means you are leaving the city limits. Posted by Picasa

We briefly stopped in the town of Carentan. This town was liberated by "E Company, 506 PIR" (Band of Brothers). Posted by Picasa

Brad is standing on the Observation and Fire Control Tower for the four 155mm guns at Longues Battery. A scene for the "Longest Day" was filmed here. Posted by Picasa

Longues Battery between Arromanches and Omaha Beach. There were four of these 155mm guns duelling with the British battleship HMS Warspite. Brad and Andy both enjoyed sitting atop the barrel. Posted by Picasa
